New York Islanders

The New York Islanders are a professional hockey team in the NHL based out of Uniondale, New York. The Islanders
are one of 3 NHL franchises found in the New York City metropolitan area (the New Jersey Devils and the New York Rangers are the other 2).
The team was founded in 1972 and have won four consecutive Stanley Cup championships (1980 and 1983), they have also been recognized as one of the great NHL dynasty teams in NHL history. It only took the team eight years to capture their first championship and they remained the best team for the next 3 years.
Eight former members of the Islanders have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame including Mike Bossy, Denis Potvin, Billy Smith, Clark Gillies, Bill Torrey, Bryan Trottier, Al Arbour and Pat LaFontaine.
