New York is touted as the capital of the world, probably due to the fact that it houses the headquarters of the United Nations. It is one the most widely known cities in the United States, rivaling maybe Washington, the political capital. New York is also known for its allure of entertainment spots that modeled some of the greatest entertainers and performers in the world. The Apollo Theater is on of those with the distinction of allowing interracial acts in the 1930s, Broadway, the Madison Square Garden and the Bronx where the musical genre of hip-hop is said to have been born.
